In Deutschland gibt es für viele Getränkeflaschen und Getränkedosen ein Pfandsystem.
In Germany there is a deposit system for many beverage bottles and cans.
Das bedeutet: Beim Kauf zahlen Sie einen kleinen Aufpreis – das sogenannte Pfand. Dieses Geld bekommen Sie zurück, wenn Sie die leere Verpackung zurückgeben.
This means that you pay a small surcharge when you purchase the product—the so-called deposit. You get this money back when you return the empty packaging.
Ein praktisches Beispiel. Sie kaufen eine Flasche Mineralwasser. Auf dem Preisschild steht: „1,09 € + 0,25 € Pfand“.
A practical example: You buy a bottle of mineral water. The price tag reads: "€1.09 + €0.25 deposit."
Wenn Sie die Flasche leer zurückbringen, erhalten Sie die 25 Cent Pfand zurück.
If you return the bottle empty, you will get the 25 cent deposit back.
In fast allen Supermärkten stehen Pfandautomaten. Dort können Sie die leeren Flaschen oder Dosen zurückgeben.
Almost all supermarkets have deposit machines where you can return empty bottles or cans.
