The question about the time is: "What time is it?" Or "What time is it?"
Die Antwort darauf beginnt mit "Es ist …".
The answer to this begins with "It is ...".
Wie spät ist es? - Es ist acht Uhr.
What time is it ? - It is eight o'clock.
Wie viel Uhr ist es? - Es ist 14:00 Uhr.
What time is it ? - It's 2:00 pm.
Es gibt im Deutschen eine offizielle Variante und mehrere umgangssprachliche Varianten der Uhrzeiten.
There is an official variant in German and several slang variants of the times.
Für die offizielle Uhrzeit wird der Tag in 24 Stunden eingeteilt.
For the official time, the day is divided into 24 hours.
Die Stunden und die Minuten werden jeweils mit zwei Ziffern geschrieben und mit einem Doppelpunkt getrennt: 08:12 Uhr.
The hours and minutes are each written with two digits and separated by a colon: 08:12 am.
Der Tag beginnt um 00:00 Uhr und endet um 24:00 Uhr.
The day begins at 0:00 and ends at 24:00.
Im Radio und Fernsehen wird die offizielle Variante der Uhrzeit verwendet.
The official version of the time is used on radio and television.
Wie spät ist es? - Es ist 07:15 Uhr.
What time is it? - It's 7:15 am.
Wie spät ist es? - Es ist 14:00 Uhr.
What time is it ? - It's 2:00 p.m.
Wie viel Uhr ist es? - Es ist 18:45 Uhr.
What time is it ? - It's 6:45 pm.
Wie viel Uhr ist es? - Es ist 22:30 Uhr.
