Wenn man Personen anspricht, unterscheidet man zwischen "du", "Sie" und "ihr".
When addressing people, one differentiates between "du", "Sie" and "ihr".
Die formelle Anrede "Sie" verwendet man bei Personen, die man nicht kennt.
The formal salutation "Sie" is used for people you do not know.
Fremde oder unbekannte Menschen spricht man mit "Sie" an.
Strangers or unfamiliar people are addressed as "Sie".
Auch Vorgesetzte, Lehrer oder Arbeitskollegen spricht man mit "Sie" an.
Supervisors, teachers or work colleagues are also referred to as "Sie".
Herr Schuster, darf ich Sie heute zum Essen einladen?
Mr. Schuster, may I invite you to dinner today?
Die formelle Anrede "Sie" ist in Singular und Plural gleich.

"du" und "ihr" verwendet man zum Beispiel in der Familie und der Verwandtschaft.
"du" and "ihr" are used, for example, in families and relatives.
Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene sprechen sich mit "du" und "ihr" an.
Adolescents and young adults address each other with "du" and "ihr".
Kinder spricht man ebenfalls mit "du" oder "ihr" an.
Children are also addressed as "du" or "ihr".
Auch im Sportverein verwendet man oft "du" und "ihr" als Anrede.
In sports clubs, too, "du" and "ihr" are often used as salutations.
