Wer bist du? - Ich bin Jan.
Who are you? - I am Jan.
Woher kommst du? - Ich komme aus Berlin.
Where do you come from? - I come from Berlin.
Wie geht es dir? - Es geht mir gut.
How are you? - I'm doing well.
Menschen, die man nicht kennt, fragt man in der Höflichkeitsform: "Wer sind Sie?", "Woher kommen Sie?", "Wie geht es Ihnen?"
People you don't know are asked in the polite form: "Who are you?", "Where are you from?", "How are you?"

Where are you from? - I am from Dortmund.
